From Mexico City to Chula Vista

Picket Fences began with a decision to bet on himself. In Mexico City, Enrique had built a career as a successful sales executive, until he moved his family to San Diego in the mid-1990s and found that a his experience in Mexico was not translating over to the United States. So, he did what he has always done best: he bet on himself, and started his own company doing something he had never done before.

In 1999, the hills of Eastlake in Chula Vista were just beginning to fill with new homes. On every freshly graded lot — before the landscaping, before the life — stood a single marker of what was coming: a white picket fence. That image became the name.

A Quarter-Century of Craft

What began as landscaping grew, project by project, into a trusted name for high-end outdoor living and construction across San Diego County. For more than 25 years, Enrique has brought the same things to every job: elite problem-solving, a craftsman's hands, and an obsession with turning a client's vision into something real. Fluent in English and Spanish, he has built lasting relationships in the county's finest communities — from Chula Vista and Coronado to Del Mar and Rancho Santa Fe — many with families who have called on him again and again.

The Next Generation

Sebastian, Enrique's son, grew up around the work and took the same path his father once had — studying computer engineering, this time in San Diego. After graduating, he spent several years building software for the aerospace industry, before making the same choice his father once did: he left the salaried job behind to build something of his own, and joined Picket Fences to lead its next chapter.

He brings an engineer's discipline to the business. The same precision and systems-thinking that goes into aerospace software now shapes how your project is planned, communicated, and managed — nothing left to chance, nothing lost in translation

What This Means for You

When you hire Picket Fences, you work directly with the family whose name is on the company. You get an accomplished builder who treats your home the way he'd treat his own, and a partner who keeps the process clear from the first sketch to the final walkthrough. We're not the cheapest, and we've never tried to be. We build to a standard — in English or Spanish — and we stake our name on the result.

Commitment to Client Satisfaction

Client satisfaction is our top priority, and we take pride in delivering outstanding service. Each project begins with a detailed consultation to fully understand your goals and specific needs. This ensures the project is completed exactly to your preferences.
